Yours truly with the M6Hi, I’m Bede, and this is my blog. I’m not a full-time photographer – I have a day job – but as I continue to learn the craft I figure I may as well share my findings with you. This site has camera reviews, photo walk routes, gear geekery and of course my photography.

I started photography in earnest at school, where I shot with black and white and learned to work in a darkroom. A few years later I picked up a Canon SLR and got back into it, shooting classic slide films such as Fuji Provia and Velvia. But I sold the camera to help pay for my move from New Zealand to London. Meanwhile digital had arrived, and I waited patiently until prices came down. In 2007 I picked up my first DSLR (a Nikon D80), and I haven’t put it down since. (Actually that’s a lie, I sold that camera, but you know what I mean.)

In photography terms, I have still to find my style. I have moved from Landscape, to product and portrait photography, and lately I’ve been trying my hand at street. After a bad bout of Gear Acquisition Syndrome I started shooting 35mm film again, in order to get back to basics and the taking of pictures itself. It didn’t cure me of GAS, but it has been good for my photography and of course I have a bitching film camera now.  What else can I tell you? I have an addiction to camera-porn. Oh and I invented the Vogue-Pose SelfieTM. Beat that.

If you live in London and you’d like me to take your picture, or some pictures for you, feel fee to get in touch. Weekends are good for me. You can use the links above to see my personal portfolio, what gear I use (you know you want to) and contact me.

I hope you enjoy the site. I like comments :)

  1. Hi Bede and thanks for sharing your pphotos and inspiration. I am going to London and was looking for ideas of photo walks and found your suggestions, thanks. I bought myself a fuji x20 last weekend that I am eager to test in London.
    Anyhow, thanks.

Hi Sten – thanks for your feedback; I’m glad you found the site useful. I hope you have a great trip to London – the Fuji X20 is to my mind the best-looking Fuji X camera and with the zoom lens it’s more versatile than the X100. Let me know how you get on!
